Abstract

The present work was carried out to study the effect of non-chemical methods as safe alternative to synthetic fungicides to control some soil borne fungal diseases of faba bean plants. Whereas, chemical pesticides might have injury on the environment and human health because it highly toxic substances produced in agricultural led to, great disturbance in biological balance. Surveying of faba bean wilt and root-rot diseases during 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 growing seasons in this investigation was varied from governorate to another where Elmenia governorate was the most infected area 33.0 and 30.5% disease rate during the two growing seasons, respectively. F. oxysporum, Fusarium solani and Rhizoctonia solani the casual pathogens of wilt / root-rot diseases of faba bean in all surveyed districts with high frequency level compared with the other fungi, which varied clearly in their virulence onto faba bean plants (c.v. Giza-429) under greenhouse conditions. Twenty-five antagonistic bacterial isolates (B) and thirty antagonistic fungal isolates (F) were isolated from faba bean rhizosphere and assayed for their antagonistic activity against three pathogenic fungi in vitro. Culture filtrates of effective bioagents (trichoderma hamatum-, T. harziunum, Bacillus subitilis- and 2 1 B. amylotquefaciens ) at the different concentrations significantly decreased the -1 linear growth of F. oxysporum f.sp fabae, F. solani and Rhizoctonia solani in comparison with control treatment
