Abstract
Burllus Lake wetland is one of an ideal place for overwintering migratory and resident birds as well. This study aims to assess the bird diversity and habitat suitability at one of the Important Bird Areas (IBA) and Ramsar sites at Lake Burllus, northern Egypt and assessment of heavy metal. Waterbird diversity was assessed at 16 random sites in the lake representing different habitats from autumn 2019 to summer 2020. The assessment included richness,composition, evenness, abundance, Simpson and Shannon-Wiener diversity indices. Bird species diversity varied spatially and temporally among different sites during the study period. Heavy metals: lead, Nickel and Cadmium in different organs in two resident bird species in breeding and non-breading season, water, dominant plant species, Fish and sediment were determined
