This study aim to identify the methods of retrieval information from the Egyptian electronic newspapers websites available on the Internet, and try to analyze them, and work on evaluating them and revealing the extent of their effectiveness in accurate retrieval of the required content, by identifying the methods of bibliographic control of the newspaper’s content,in addition to the available retrieval methods Inside the site, and collect practices that take place in order to organize them in preparation for their retrieval, The study sample consisted of the sites of the Egyptian newspapers that are issued on a daily basis in print alongside the website, which are 11 newspapers, namely Al-Ahram, Akhbar Al-Youm, Al-Gomhouria, Al-Wafd, Al-Shorouk, Al-Bawaba News, Al-Masry Al-Youm, the Seventh Day, Al-Dustour and Al-Watan, which are available in the Arabic language, The study relied on the information which collected from October 2018 to December 2021, and it used the descriptive analytical approach and relied on data collection on 3 tools, which are access to newspaper websites to work on examining them accurately, and using references and studies related to this regard, and a checklist which has been prepared for the study includes a set of elements to evaluate,inventory and analyze the mechanisms of retrieval Available in newspapers, conducting a number of interviews with responsible of newspapers, responsible of the website, and finally reviewing the literature on the subject in its various aspects.
The study reached a set of results, the most important of it was that all electronic newspapers provide the beneficiary with the ability to search their content through Internet search engines, and they depend on the beneficiary’s search in the free language.
As for the process of setting descriptors expressing the content, it is carried out by more than one official in the newspaper, headed by the content writer or the head of the section, The headers of the topics are derived from the title or from the body of the content, Thematic lists come as a second search tool in the content. All newspapers rely on them to divide and organize their contents and facilitate The beneficiary has to search the subject category chronologically for a specific topic, and by providing the printed copy of the newspaper in pdf format on the site, it allows the beneficiary to browse any number he wants, The possibility of searching for the date of publication on the site by day, month and year came in a very small percentage of newspapers despite its importance and also gives an added value for retrieving information from the newspaper.
It turns out that newspapers that are more active and have more followers on social networking sites rank higher and have more traffic than newspapers that are satisfied with the electronic newspaper, and it follows from this that the future is for social networking sites and television stations, it is noticed from now the superiority of social media sites over electronic newspapers,although if the hyperlinks did not link the beneficiary to the electronic newspaper and social networking sites provided the complete content without links, The beneficiary will not resort to many of the beneficiaries of the electronic newspaper, replaced by social networking sites in providing news and information, especially with the capabilities they provide to put all the multimedia and links that refer to other sites, and the possibility of searching in the content witch present as well, and the great interactive capabilities it includes.
