Abstract The Faculty of Agriculture of Alexandria University is one of the most important faculties of Alexandria University, as it confers bachelor’s degree in agricultural science through eight programs and nineteen sub disciplines, in addition to the degrees of diploma, masters and PhD in these disciplines. The Faculty of Agriculture was established in August 1942 in Damanhur city, then was moved to Alexandria city in 1947. They are located in Alexandria downtown; it is divided into two separated parts by Aphlaton Street. The first part has a total area of 57703 m², and the second one is 15837.9 m². The gardens were designed under the Italian engineer Clement Busiri Vicchi and Rodolfo Rustichelli. This study was conducted on the Garden of Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University from 2019 to 2022. In this study, we surveyed and analyzed the location of the Faculty of Agriculture Garden, Alexandria University from all standpoints as it turned out that the design was done in a mixed style, 44 plant species (4 palms, 27 trees, 6 shrubs and 7 shade plants) were identified, such as: Ficus laurifolia, Ficus aspera, Cassia nodosa, Chorisia speciosa, Thevetia neriifolia, Bauhinia variegate, Moringa oleifera, Magnolia grandiflora, Araucaria heterophylla, Ziziphus spina-christi, Brugmansia arborea, Beaucarnea recurvata, Meryta sinclairii, Cycas revoluta and Seaforthia elegans, there are also some important hardscape elements such as: pergola, fountain, mosque, playground, swimming pool and plant beds. A questionnaire was also conducted on 110 students from the flowers, ornamental plants, and landscaping department to pinpoint their opinions of the faculty garden, then verified and analyzed their point of views. In addition, we defined what they need to fit the purposes of creating a suitable environment for education and identify the problems of the nursery especially for providing practical educational experiences and research opportunities to students, and participation in the framework volunteer programs and service-learning projects. The results showed that why users were not satisfied for the following reasons: I: The Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University: • Insufficient number of seats and shade places. • Stairs are not comfortable for people with disabilities. • There are no general helpful guidance panels for the visitors to facilitate movement. |
