Abstract
The present work deals mainly with geological, petrographical, geochemical and mineralogical studies as well as ground gamma-ray spectrometric surveys were carried out on the rock units cropping out at Gebel Nugrus and its surrounding area. The study area is located between latitudes 24o 45` 00`` and 24o 52` 20``N and longitudes 34o 29` 00`` and 34o 39` 20`` E, at South Eastern Desert of Egypt. The area under investigation is marked by two large NW-SE trending plutons; namely Gebel Nugrus and Gebel Magal El Harami as well as the Gebel Hafafit in the western side. The study area is covered by different rock units including; ultramafic rocks,ophiolitic metagabbros, ophiolitic mélanges,gneisses,monzogranites,syenogranites and alkali feldspar granites as well as post granitic dykes and veins.
