One of the main tasks of this research was to shed light on the plastic potential of decoupage as a plastic supplement in the field of photography and postmodern arts, as well as to reveal new methods and treatments for the material, especially paper, because of its great importance from the technical, educational and economic point of view, as it participates in achieving the artistic goals.
This research also aimed to classify and analyze the different styles of Egyptian, Arab and foreign artists, and to identify the artistic trends in postmodern arts who relied on the decoupage and collage art style in their paintings. This research consists of the structural form and five chapters dealing with many topics. summarized as follows:
Research Structure:
This chapter introduces research and related studies and discusses, through the background of the research, an overview of decoupage, its origin, and the way it spread through the movement of merchants throughout the country.
This chapter also includes the problem of the research, its objectives, hypotheses, importance, limits and methodology, then a presentation and analysis of a variety of studies related to the subject of the research, whether it was the thought of experimentation with paper materials or a study dealing with the plastic potential of collage and its use method, then this was followed by a presentation of some studies of postmodern arts and studies in decoupage, and finally Explanation of some technical terms associated with this research.
Chapter One:
This chapter deals with the definition of decoupage and some of its names, history, development, beginning and methods of transmission, as it was not an art in its infancy until it became one of the finest arts with which furniture, walls, gift boxes and utensils were decorated.
Then the research dealt with the classifications of decoupage, where it was classified according to the character that distinguishes each country in which its raw materials were found, such as French decoupage, German and English decoupage, and others, until it reached contemporary decoupage.
Then the researcher presented some of the advantages of decoupage and its usage patterns. It may be used under varnish and under glass, it may be used in reverse, and the three-dimensional method may be used.
Chapter Two:
This chapter presents the tools and materials of the art of decoupage, as the materials for decoupage vary from paper, glue, varnish, paint, polishes, colors, etc., and its raw materials also vary, and this is what makes it a delicate and distinctive art, as it includes scissors, brushes, sandpaper, diameter, gloves, and others.
Through this chapter, we learn about cutting methods, preparing different surfaces, special techniques for decoupage, polishing methods, and examples of ways to use decoupage, ancient and modern.
The decoupage steps can be shortened to the following basic steps:
1- Shape, choose the shape of the surface of the element that will be decorated.
2- The scale, or proportion of the images of that shape or surface.
3- Colors, and the colors match the pictures.
4- The position of the main image, and the rest of the elements around it.
Chapter Three:
This chapter displays and analyzes decoupage art paintings by some artists in Egypt and around the world, and getting to know some famous artists with decoupage artworks, past and present.
Through this chapter, the researcher analyzes some of the works of famous artists in this field.
Chapter Four:
This chapter presents the linguistic and idiomatic definition of postmodern art by some artists, and explains the material in modern art and some of its uses in the art of photo-painting, which allow artists to understand the material and adapt its techniques as a mean of expression in this field.
Also, this chapter presents selections from current art on the use of paper in artworks such as cubism, surrealism, Dadaism, mass art, and postmodern study art.
Chapter Five:
