Abstract Extensive literature was done on infant weaning practices among mothers. Infant weaning knowledge and practice among mothers attending maternal and childhood care center in tour Sinai city the capital of south Sinai government was the focus of this study.Through the study, we answered two research questions. The study was cross sectional study. Sample size was 323 participant using open Epi, Power of test 80%, CI 95%. Data for the study was collected using a designed and structured questionnaire. Mothers were interviewed on health care center after taking permission and data were collected from mothers attending the clinics on knowledge and practice regarding infant weaning.Data were analyzed using computer by (SPSS) version 20, and the results were considered statistically significant and highly statistical significant when the significant probability (P value) was (<0.05*)and (<0.001**)respectively.Results revealed that infant weaning knowledge and practices among mothers are at moderate level.Findings showed significance association between all demographic characteristics and mothers’ knowledge and practice and there is positive correlation between mother’s knowledge and mother’s practices regarding infant weaning.Based on the finding,we canconclude that theperiodic assessment of the level of knowledge and practices of mothers towards infantweaning is a simple and inexpensive process and can be applied during follow-up routine medical care for children at family medicine centers. Thus, it is easy to improve the cognitive and practical level of mothers by establishing a healthy team to activate awareness programs and correct instructions for proper weaning during child immunization sessions. |
