Abstract Evaluation of health related quality of life in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis after surgical correction of the deformity using the Arabic version of SRS22r outcome Questionnaire. Materials and methods: Prospective cohort study included 70 patients with AIS operated at Orthopedic surgery department, Mansoura University Hospital between January 2019 and October 2020. Inclusion criteria Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (onset 11 to 18 years old) , at least 2 years follow up , using posterior instrumentation by pedicle screws and rod system and Primary cobb angle >40ₒ, while Exclusion criteria were other types of scoliosis (syndromic, congenital and neuromuscular), non-surgical management, Age below 10 years old and revision cases. Results: Results of this study showed significant improvement of total score and each domain of SRS22r questionnaire. The highest rate of improvement was detected for Self-image domain with 95% percent of improvement and the least for Pain domain with 18% percent of improvement with high Satisfaction score after two years follow up Conclusions:This study showed significant improvement in clinical and radiological outcomes in AIS patients who underwent surgical correction by posterior all pedicular screw instrumentation. Surgical correction of AIS results in improvement in all domain scores of SRS22r questionnaire with self-image domain having the highest score among all domains. |
