Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the impacts of the green areas on the quality of life through improving air quality. Green area planning standards were identified through a literature review for the various green area planning approaches. It was clear that the adopted approaches did not take into account some ecological aspects particularly air quality. For this reason, attention was oriented toward the ecological approach. In this thesis, an attempt was made to construct an empirical model based on the methods adopted in the ecological approach. The proposed model was then validated through an application on an internationally recognized green city with high quality of life; namely the city of Copenhagen, Denmark.This application yielded favorable insights as regards the usability of the model to estimate the quantitative and spatial requirements of green areas adapting the local conditions. This result suggests the possibility of application of the proposed model in the Egyptian context
