Abstract

The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of supplementation of turkey toms with basil, thyme alone or in combination and some multienzymes as feed additives in the form of kemzyme/ration and zymogen/water on some productive performance, some metabolic parameters, integrity and functionality of gastrointestinal tract. The study was carried out on 48 male turkey toms, three months old and the experiment extended for 10 weeks. Turkey toms randomly divided into 3 main groups. The first main group contain twenty four toms, divided into 4 equal subgroups (6 birds each), (C) fed basal ration without additives, (B) fed on basal ration to which basil powder was added at a dose 3gm/kg ration, (T) group fed on basal ration to which thyme powder was added at a dose 2gm /kg ration and (BT) group was fed ration to which thyme and Basil powder were added at the same previous doses. The second main group contains twelve toms, divided into 2 equal subgroups (6 birds each). group (K) at a dose 0.5g/kg ration, (Z) group, (1ml/4L) drinking water. The third main group contains twelve toms divided into two equal subgroups (6 birds each). (BTK) group, they were fed basal ration to which basil, thyme and kemzyme were added at the previous doses and (BTZ) group fed on basal ration to which basil, thyme and zymogen were added as the previous doses. B.W., B.W.G, F.C.R. and F.E. were measured at the end of the experiment. Serum samples were collected to measure some biochemical parameters. At the same time some tissues were collected and prepared for morphological and molecular studies. Results revealed that most additives produced a significant improvement in productive performance and all measured metabolic parameters
