Abstract
The This randomized controlled trial was performed to estimate the implant stability of single versus two-implant mandibular overdenture of completely edentulous patients. This trial was performed following recommendations made in the CONSORT statement for reporting randomized clinical trials. The sample of this study consisted of twenty-four patients selected from the outpatient clinic of the Prosthodontic Department Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Cairo University. All patients were completely edentulous patients , age ranged from 40 to 70 years, free of systemic disease that affect bone and from any oral pathological lesions in the oral cavity also not complaining from bruxism ,clenching, Temporomandibular joint diseases The patients have been randomly allocated into: group (1) twelve-patients, each patient received single implant mandibular over denture. Implant was placed in mandible midline. group (2) twelve-patients, each patient received two-implant mandibular over dentures. Implants were placed in canine areas. The opposing maxillary arch habilitated with conventional complete denture was performed for both groups.Implant stability was measured equally for the two groups. At first primary stability was measured at time of implant insertion after that secondary implant stability was measured every three months up to nine month.Comparing the two groups during the entire study period, the results of this study demonstrated that no differences in implant stability between two groups
