This research introducing a risk engineering model applied to the equipment maintenance system. We consider the main components of the maintenance system as Equipment, Process, People, and Environment. The objective of this thesis is to develop an approach based on this total systemic view and using the concepts of risk engineering management to control the hazards of the maintenance system.The system hazards were defined. Also, the undesired events, and feared events were illustrated, and their probabilities and severities were estimated. More than 700 failures cases for 18 pumps during 5 years of operations were studied.Risk scenarios were developed using 2Event Tree3 analysis. Besides, ”Monte Carlo simulation” model was developed to create multiple undesired predictive scenarios. Sensitivity and Bow-Tie analysis was performed to see the effect of maintenance system on the whole business of the organization.A risk control strategy was created to minimize the system losses. Also, a model of cost-benefit analysiswas developed to evaluate the benefits of the achievements. The final results show the effectiveness of introducing Risk Engineering Management concepts in minimizing the losses of equipment maintenance system. The risk model was used to control the undesired events of major maintenance system and therefore reflects positively on the company business as a whole
