Abstract
This study compares between the Airway Pressure Release Ventilation mode ( APRV ) and Biphasic Positive Airway Pressure mode ( BiPAP ) and their effect on Physiological dead space ( measured by using the Volumetric Capnography ) in Mechanically ventilated patients in ICU with impaired Oxygenation ( P/F ratio < 300 ). Physiological dead space was NOT increased nor decreased with using the 2 modes . Peak Airway pressure and Dynamic compliance were found to be increased with APRV and BiPAP
