Abstract Engineered cementitious composite (ECC) was invented as a class of ultra ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composites to be used for many structural applications such as bridge decks, piers, retaining walls, beam-column connections, dams, road tunnels and irrigation channel linings. The aim of this thesis is to study the structural behavior of green ECC produced with local materials available in Egypt. The experimental work was divided into two phases. The first phase included the investigation of the behavior of different ECC mixes to select the optimum mixes to be used in the second phase. In the second phase, the effect of using ECC as a repair material for reinforced concrete beams was investigated. It was concluded that green ECC with satisfactory performance could be produced with local materials available in Egypt. Mixes containing slag and silica fume have a superior performance than mixes with plain cement, even in case of using blended cements |
