Abstract

This study have been carried out to study the effect of sandblasting and laser surface treatment on surface alternation and shear bond strength of VITA In-Ceram YZ core and to compare the surface alternation and shear bond strength of sandblasted with lased VITA In-Ceram YZ core.CAD/CAM CEREC ACandSirona CEREC MC X system was used to mill sixty discs of zirconia YZ blocks that are divided into three groups (each of 10 twin discs) according to surface treatment: group A: (n=10( One surface of each disc was sandblastedusingAluminium oxide (50 æm) at a pressure of 2.5 bars. - group B: (n=10(One surface of each disc was Laser treated with Nd-YAG . - group 0: (n=10(Non-treated discs.A sample from each group has been scanned with electron microscope to compare the alternation of topographic morphology due to surface treatment with laser and sandblasting with non-treated disc. - Resin modified glass ionomerwas used for cementation of the samples supplied in capsules and mixed in the amalgamator for 8 sec.The samples of each group were be inserted inside the cementation mold to be cemented to each other under a static load applied on each twin discs by universal testing machine for 5 min and the load was 25 N. At the end of the 5-min self-curing periodthe luting cement was light cured from the top for 40 s with a halogen light-curing unit (XL3000, 3M ESPE) operating at 550 mW/cm2.All twin discs have been stored for 24 hour storage period at 37{u00B0}C under 100% relative humidity, soaked in artificial saliva; neutral saline
