The study discuss the concept of resurrection and rebirth (an analytical study of the coffin texts and scenes of the eighteenth dynasty), that is because the coffin was regarded to be of great importance in the resurrection and rebirth process, as much as the texts that were inscribed on the insides of its walls. Therefore, I found that it was important to focus on the analysis of these texts and scenes to define their crucial roles in the resurrection and rebirth process. In this study, I chose only the coffins of the eighteenth dynasty, royal or non-royal, in order to cover the topic from several aspects. I divided the study into an introduction and five chapters as following: the introduction where I emphasize on the importance of the coffin as a place for resurrection and rebirth and I explained its various concepts.The first chapter: ”The scenes and texts scratched and written on the eighteenth dynasty royal coffins”. This chapter includes a study on the texts inscribed on the interior of the royal coffins and their relation with specific locations on the coffin’s walls. The second chapter: ”The scenes and texts scratched and written on the eighteenth dynasty non-royal coffins”. It studies the texts inscribed on the interior of the non-royal coffins and their developments during the eighteenth dynasty period.
The third chapter: ”Works that lead to resurrection and rebirth”. It cites the required works that should be accomplished by the dead in order to rise and be renewed in the other world. The fourth chapter: ”The role of the goddesses pictures painted on the eighteenth dynasty coffins in the resurrection and rebirth process: a study on the pictorial drawings of the goddess and the depiction of each one’s role in the resurrection and rebirth process”. And the fifth chapter: ”The religious symbols drawn on the insides of the eighteenth dynasty coffins and their importance in the resurrection and rebirth process”. The chapter outlines the religious symbols drawn on the coffin’s walls and demonstrates their role in the resurrection and rebirth process.
