Abstract

Results of the current study could be summarized as follows:
 There was no significant statistical difference between patients and
controls regarding their age, sex and body mass index (P value >
0.05).
 Most of patients had gradual onset and progressive course 86.7%
and 56.7% respectively, mean disease duration was 2.63 years
ranged from 3 months to five years. Positive family history present
in 71.7% of patients, 8.3% of patients was smokers. Regarding site
of acne it was more in face 53.3%.Acne was related to stress in
90% of patients). Diet history questionnaire revealed that there was
significant difference between cases and controls regarding
frequency of eating chocolate, macaroni, potato chips, fried food ,
fats , drinking cola and eating pickles (P value <0.05).
 Mean Global Acne Grading Scale was 37.7 ranged from7 to 71.
Majority of patients had very severe form 40%, 31.7% were
severe, 20% were moderate and 8.3% were mild.
 Adiponectin level was higher in cases than controls10.4±6.16 vs
7.98±6.67 (P value 0.001).
 The level of leptin was lower in cases than controls 17.5±18.4
vs18.3±14.7 (P value 0.002).
 No significant statistical correlation between adiponectin
concentration (ng/dl) and age, disease duration and GAGS score
among the studied patients (P value >0.05).
Summary
89
 No significant statistical correlation between Leptin concentration
and age, disease duration and GAGS score among the studied
patients (P value >0.05).
 No significant relation between Adiponectin concentration(ng/dl)
and clinical data of the studied patients (P value > 0.05).
 No significant relation between leptin concentration(ng/dl) and
clinical data of the studied patients (P value > 0.05) except for
family history, leptin was significantly lower in patients with
positive family history (P value < 0.05).
