Abstract A. uropigimelana is one of the most abundant marine bivalves along the coastal zones of the Mediterranean Sea, Port Said, Egypt. In the present study, live samples of A. uropigimelana were collected and its extract was prepared to undergo some in vitro and in vivo studies. GC-MS analysis of Anadara’s extract was performed and vital constituents such as protein, flavonoid, and antioxidant were assessed. Moreover, the DPPH radical scavenging activity of Anadara’s extract was tested, as well as its cytotoxicity using an MTT assay against human breast cancer cells (MCF-7). The median lethal dose (LD50) of Anadara’s extract in female albino mice (7 groups, each with 4 animals) was assessed to determine the safe dose to be used in the evaluation of its potential chemo-preventive, therapeutic, and synergistic effect with Dox against DMBA-induced mammary carcinogenesis. The previous potential effects of Anadara’s extract were assessed in the experimental animals (9 groups, each with 10 animals) using hematological, biochemical, molecular, and histological assessments. |
