Abstract

Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is a highly transmissible bovine disease caused by a virus belongs to poxviridae family (genus capripox).
The main objectives of this study were monitoring the evaluation of the clinical aspects and epidemiological features of LSD in sex governorates (Al-Sharqia, Al-Dakahlia, Al-Menia, Alwady ALgaded, Al- Bhera, and Al-Menofia), Egypt during the period between June 2020 to October 2022 highlighting the risk factors associated with its occurrence. Moreover, assessment of different diagnostic techniques used in diagnosis of LSD particularly molecular methods in differentiation between the illnesses resulted from field and vaccinal strains of the virus.
Several outbreaks of LSD were observed in cattle in some governorates in Egypt’s between June 2020 and October 2022. All animals were subjected to a general clinical examination.
