Abstract

The rapid advancements in life style and medical facilities increased life expectancy especially for some age-related neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD Barnard et al., 2014). This neurodegenerative diseases is characterized by progressive impairment of memory and other cognitive functions leading to complete incapacity and death Bolós et al., 2017).Alterations in the homeostasis of essential metals and increased environmental exposure to xenobiotic metals are strongly linked to several neurological disorders (P. Chen et al 2016). Aluminum (Al), a widely distributed neurotoxic, has been implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders (Nampoothiri et al., 2015) including Alzheimer’s disease. The role of Al in the etiology and pathogenesis of AD has drawn more perceive due to the well documented animal experiments (Ribes et al., 2008) and clinical studies (Akila et al., 1999). AlCl3 affects the biochemical parameters of brain, disrupting behavioral activities and induce histopathological alternation in specific regions of the brain (Berihu et al., 2015 Most of the studies suggests that the removal of toxic metal from human body can represent a useful tool to avoid the initiation and/or progression of many diseases related to metal intoxication (Fulgenzi et al., 2014).
