Abstract Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the major complex and chronic disorders of carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism characterized by persistent elevation of blood glucose due to a partial or complex cessation in the production of insulin, synthesis or peripheral resistance to the insulin metabolic action (Longe et al., 2015). DM is a group of metabolic diseases in which there are high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period. Some common symptoms of high blood sugar act of frequent urination, the incresament feeling of thirst and the hunger as well. The negligence of diabetes treatment can cause many different complications; acute complications include diabetic ketoacidosis and nonketotic hyperosmolar coma (American Diabetes Association, 2017). Serious long-term complications include cardiovascular disease, stroke, chronic kidney failure, foot ulcer and damage to the eyes. |
