Abstract

Cancer breast is known to be the most common cancer throughout the women so detection as well as characterization of different breast lesions are very useful regarding the plan of treatment and prognosis as well as the molecular subtyping of breast cancer has become an essential requirement for treatment planning, disease prognosis, and to avoid overtreatment .Non-invasive methods of tissue characterization have attracted clinical interest during the early course of diagnosis. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging has been increasingly used for accurate diagnosis of breast lesions .several other MRI techniques such as diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which allows the mapping of the diffusion of water molecules in biological tissues and Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) represent a modified diffusion technique that is considered a promising tool in characterization of breast lesions. DTI parameters can be used as a complementary tool to dynamic contrast enhanced MRI to increase its specificity . The main findings in this study is that IDC presented by mass lesion with irregular shape ,speculated margin and heterogeneous enhancement while the DCIS represented by represented by segmental non mass enhancement. According to the tumor grade, All cases of grade II and about (85.7%) of grade III show heterogeneous enhancement and (84.6%) grade II & (71.4%) grade III show speculated margin. Regarding the relation between the biological markers and the morphological MRI criteria we found that most cases of luminal B HER2negative( 76.4%) had irregular shape and speculated margin while the triple negative cases had rounded shape ,smooth margin , rim enhancement and central necrosis. As regard the ADC value in relation to the tumor type ,our study showed that mucinous carcinoma had the highest ADC (mean ADC value about .9x10-3 mm/s ) , the DCIS had higher ADC value(.86x10-3 mm2/s ) in comparison to the invasive ductal carcinoma (.55x10-3 mm2/s) and the DCIS represented by plateau curve .
