Abstract

Global Positioning System (GPS); which has been developed by the Department of Defense (DOD), is a common navigation system on the earth’s surface. It can provide appropriate location information anywhere direct viewing to four or more satellites is possible. However, it suffers from signal interruptions in urban and underwater areas, where satellite signals can be blocked. In literature, the inertial navigation system (INS); is a way of controlling the moving vehicles without relying on external (satellite) sources. The vehicle states apply to the vehicle’s location, speed, and orientation. INS is used in aviation, warships, UAVs, and guided missiles [2]. INS is an integrated system containing three-axis accelerometers and gyroscopes that can measure vehicle speeds and angular momentum in the three mutually orthogonal directions Most intelligent mobile devices include a range of sensors such as GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and altimeter, humidity, and so forth. One of the disadvantages of these sensors, however, is their poor accuracy.
