Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents a worldwide health problem. It’s the sixth commonest solid tumor worldwide and also the third reason for cancer-related mortality (Dai et al., 2014). Infection with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) poses a high risk of progressive hepatic fibrosis, consequent liver cirrhosis (LC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) (Iio et al., 2017; Ogawa et al., 2017).In Egypt, HCC represents the most complication of liver cirrhosis mostly because of HCV infection (Shaheen et al., 2015). According to WHO registry, there are 25,399 new cases of HCC discovered during 2018 in Egypt which comprises about 20% of all new malignant cases (World Health Organization; WHO, 2018).
