Abstract Aim of Work Goal The study aims at providing an understanding of rural farmers’ backyard poultry breeding in relation to AI: knowledge, attitude and practices to provide base line diagnostic data for communication and health education strategies. Study objectives 1- Elicit quantitative knowledge, attitudes and practices of backyard poultry breeders in rural areas concerning AI. 2- Identify required areas for formulation of messages to rural people concerning Avian Influenza. To satisfy the study objectives the following study questions should be answered: 1- What is the knowledge of rural people about AI? Disease, infection, routes of transmission, preventive measures, source of information 2- What is the source of their knowledge? 3- How susceptible are rural population and their families to infection? 4- What are the common attitudes towards AI? 5- What are the common practices of backyard poultry raising? - raising of poultry: raising places, mixing kinds, wandering practices, buying new poultry - culling of poultry: when, why , how, where 6- What is their attitude towards government legislations? |
