Abstract Organic matter affects citrus growth and production, either directly by supplying nutrients and facilitating the availability of most elements or indirectly by modifying soil physical properties that can improve the rooting environment and stimulate plant growth. Since the synthetic (mineral) fertilizers pose a threat to both human health and the environment, organic and bio fertilizers are used to obtain best of growth and fruiting parameters as well as production of orange fruits that are safe and suitable for export. So, this review was conducted to evaluate the response of using some types of organic and bio fertilizer which lead to reducing the recommended doses of chemical fertilizers on growth, yield and fruit quality of citrus trees. Researches results indicated that adding both organic and bio fertilizers promoted all vegetative growth aspects i.e. length branch, leaf area, pigments and mineral contents in leaves, flowering and fruit set percentage, as well as increased yield/tree and improved fruit quality. To reduce fruits pollution, it is preferable to replace mineral fertilization with organic and bio fertilization. |
