Abstract An introductory to illustrate applications of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) in water treatment as one of the ultimate substantial classes of porous materials with tunable structure, remarkable flexibility, porosity and functionality. MOFs nanocomposite have plentiful advantages when applied as adsorbent materials for removing of toxic heavy metals, rare-earth elements (REE) as well as pharmaceutical drugs. The MOF-drug interaction controlled by different propose mechanism as hydrogen bonding, π-π interaction, electrostatic, acid-base and hydrophobic interactions is the most preferred ones. Finally, MOFs adsorbents are highly granulated to regenerate for the potential implementation in water treatment, which based on the MOFs types. |
