Abstract Chapter I is concerned with introduction presented the importance of wastewater recovery and its challenges, referring to the possible hazardous compounds which could be found in water sources especially pesticides. This chapter discussed the classification of pesticides and their potential hazardous impacts especially for organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) as one of the most dangerous category of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) referring to their history of utility and their potential nasty impacts. The introductory section is mainly focused on six OCPs including, Hexachlorobenzene (HCB), beta-Hexachlorocyclohexane (β-HCH), Heptachlor, Aldrin, Dieldrin and Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (o,p-DDT). The last section of this chapter, presented a literature survey referring to some types of applicable analytical methods which are used in pesticides detection from different matrices, with different sorbents, including graphene compounds and chitosan. The chapter ended with the aim of the work. |
