Abstract This research aimed to study the utilization of solar heating energy to operate a double-effect water-LiBr-absorption chiller placed at Misr University in Cairo. Analysis of the performance of the chiller leads to compute the rates of heat energy input required by the chiller according to the cooling load profile. Then, appropriate solar collectors and storage system are designed to supply the required rates of heat energy during operation hours. Additionally, the research aimed to make an economic feasibility study on using solar concentrators as a source of alternative heat energy and computing the payback period for the designed solar cooling system |
