Abstract Recently, significant research and development efforts have been focused on the development of durable multifunctional textile products using eco-friendly active ingredients and emerging technologies to fulfil the growing consumer demands for high quality hygienic clothing and active wear. In future further investigations have to be carried out to create an expanded array of functional properties for developing more efficient and cost-effective multifunctional protective textile products. The original work presented in this thesis was undertaken with a view to search for the proper active ingredients, biopolymers, finishing formulations and processes for imparting the demanded functional or multifunctional properties like, antibacterial, UV-blocking, easy-care, self-cleaning, etc. to cellulosic fabrics especially cotton fabrics. To achieve the aforementioned tasks, the following studies were 7carried out: I. Green options for imparting antibacterial functionality to cotton fabrics. II. Smart options to fabricate durable polyfunctional cotton fabrics |
