Abstract The aim of this comparative study is to compare between metal with nylon cap and peek housing material of the ball attachment regarding retention and patient satisfaction for time of insertion, three months, six months and twelve months.Twenty two completely edentulous patients were selected from the Outpatient Clinic of the Prosthodontic Department, Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Cairo University, according to certain criteria. Patients were divided randomly into two equal groups (eleven patients each).group (I): Patients received two interforaminal implants with ball and socket attachments, the overdenture they received was retained using metal housing and nylon caps.group (II): Patients received two interforaminal implants with ball and socket attachments, the overdenture they received was retained using peek housing. After healing period the ball abutment were inserted. The retention for all cases was measured by device called ”Forcemeter” at time of denture insertion, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months. Data were collected, checked, revised, tabulated and statistically analyzed with Independent t-test. By comparing the two groups throughout the whole study period, the results of this study demonstrated that there is significance difference between the metal housing material with nylon cap and peek housing material of ball attachment regarding retention and patient satisfaction at the final interval follow up period |
