Abstract This thesis deals with an analytical study of some drugs used in eye drops. Two mixtures are studied using various analytical techniques. The first mixture consists of sulfacetamide sodium and prednisolone acetate while the second one consists of sulfacetamide sodium with two of its official impurities; sulfanilamide and dapsone. Different analytical techniques were adopted, namely; spectrophotometry, chemometry, chromatography and electrochemistry for the determination of the previously mentioned compounds in their pure form, laboratory prepared mixtures, biological fluids and dosage forms. The thesis consists of three parts in addition to references and summaries in Arabic and English; Part I: General introduction and literature review. Part II: Simultaneous determination of a binary mixture of sulfacetamide sodium and prednisolone acetate by spectrophotometry, chromatography and potentiometry. Part III: Simultaneous determination of a ternary mixture of sulfacetamide sodium and two of its official impurities; sulfanilamide and dapsone by spectrophotometry and chromatography. This thesis contains 61 figures, 52 tables and points to 165 references |
