Abstract Definition: Developmental dysplasia of the hip is common among children. It is considered a spectrum of a disease ranging from dysplasia of the hip to high riding dislocation and teratologic dislocation. It is more common in females, first born baby and on the left side. Etiology of DDH has three elements: mechanical, hormonal and genetic factors. DDH can present in different forms according to the age of the child. Also management options of DDH depends on the age of the child starting from Pavlik harness in the first six months of life and reaching to different types of pelvic osteotomies.Methods: This study is a prospective study, clinical trail with a convenient sample size, conducted in the period from June 2018 to April 2019. We included 47 patients with 67 hips. One case didn’t complete the follow up, that case was excluded from the study.So, we finally had 46 patients with 66 hips.12 males and 34 females, male to female ratio was 1: 2.75. 26 cases had bilateral DDH and 20 cases had unilateral DDH.In some bilateral cases, interventions other than pelvic osteotomy were done such as closed reduction or open reduction alone, so they were not included in this study.group A included 27 hips for whom, Dega Osteotomy was done.The other group included 39 hips for whom high cut Dega Osteotomy was done |
