Abstract This study was made to compare the accuracy of impression scanning and cast scanning in completely edentulous maxillary arches. To compare accuracy of impression scanning versus cast scanning, a reference cast was prepared and scanned. Five impressions were made for the reference cast using five custom trays. Impressions were scanned and poured into stone casts then the casts were also scanned. Using 3D comparing software, scan images of each of the five impressions and casts were separately superimposed on the scan image of the reference cast. Any dimensional difference between each scan image and the reference cast scan image was measured then its relative accuracy was calculated. There was a statistically significant difference between the 2 groups. The deviation was higher in impression group. The mean difference between the two groups was 43.47 |
