Abstract

This investigation manifested the photo-extracellular synthesis of silver and silver chloride nanoparticles (AgCl NPs) using seven strains, namely, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Rhizobium leguminosarum, Azotobacter chroococcum, Beijerinckia indica, Paenibacillus polymyxa, Serratia marcescens and Ensifer meliloti bacterial free supernatants under visible light irradiation at room temperature. Change of color was the primary indication of silver nanoparticles formation. Effect of different parameters and conditions, such as temperature, pH, timing, light or dark conditions, was studied on the formation of silver nanoparticles. Strains that showed potential formation of AgCl NPs were selected for further characterization on their ability to synthesize Ag and AgCl NPs using various methods including: UV-Visible Spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), GC-Mass Spectrometry and Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)
