Abstract Introduction: Preeclampsia is a pregnancy specific syndrome accounting for 10-15% of direct maternal deaths that affects multiple organ systems; appearance of proteinuria remains an important and objective diagnostic criterion. Aim of work: studying the relation of 3rd trimetric uterine artery Doppler flow velocimetry indices, Factor V Leiden mutation and placental pathology to severity of preeclampsia according to scoring system (ASA 2014) and presence of complications. Methodology: Study design A descriptive, observational Cross-sectional study of 100 preeclamptic pregnant women in third trimester with single intra uterine pregnancy, was undertaken at Kasr Alainy hospital emergency unit in Cairo, Egypt, between December 1, 2015, and September 30, 2016. The data obtained from all women included age, gravidity, parity, accurate expected date of delivery (EDD) date of last normal menstrual period with 28-30 days regular cycles. Blood pressure was measured. Laboratory examinations were undertaken, including complete blood count, liver function tests (aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, and prothrombin activity), kidney function tests (urea and creatinine), and blood group assessment and Urine samples were tested for proteinuria using the dipstick method.10 cc blood samples were obtained from all subjects for DNA analysis to assay the presence of factor V Leiden mutation |
