Abstract Materialism reflects the importance that an individual associates to possessions and the enormityof the role these possessions play in his/her life, as they are assumed to be the basis of his/her satisfaction/dissatisfaction (Belk, 1985). Based on reviewing previous literature,nine independent variables werestudied in order to find out to what extent they influence the adolescents{u2019}desire to acquire materialistic items. This study aims to (1) identify the major determinants of adolescents{u2019} materialism and (2) examine the relationship between adolescents{u2019}materialism and purchasing behavior of fashion goods.This study extends the existing literature in consumer behavior by examining the relationships between certain determinants, adolescents{u2019}materialism, and purchasing behavior toward fashion goods.
