Abstract Two novel nanogels based on carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) with both poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) in different weight ratios (2:1), (1:1) and (1:2) were synthesized then characterized with different analysis tools including: FTIR, XRD, TGA, SEM and TEM. Different applications had been performed on nanogels including: The swelling behavior of the investigated nanogels in different pH values (4, 7, 9). Dye uptake for both Congo red and Maxilon blue dyes. Metal ions uptake by the nanogels [Cu²⁺, Co²⁺, Ni²⁺]. Antimicrobial activity for both CMC and nanogels against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and fungi. CMC and nanogels degradation in soil |
