Abstract

This work aims at improving high temperature measurements, through radiometric standards at the National Institute of Standards (NIS), Egypt. The work comes as an integral part of the international research trend in which the NIS, the Egypt{u2019}s National Metrology Institute (NMI), collaborates in fabricating high temperature fixed points and evaluating their thermal and radiometric performance as well as measuring their thermodynamic temperature. These fixed points are aimed to serve as reference fixed points at NIS at the temperature range above the copper freezing point. The work is considered our first 2national3 attempt in which we aim to transfer knowledge in high temperature metrology in collaboration with the Korean Research Institute for Standards and Science (KRISS). It may worth to mention here that hitting this field is indispensable in light of the new directions of the country to make use of nuclear power plants as energy sources. The work is also in the interest of the rapidly growing heavy industry sector in the country which, we believe, in true need of calibrated and validated measurements in the high temperature domain
