Abstract

The methods used for moving objects in CFD solvers are complicated and are based on deformable moving meshes. Therefore, a new technique based on the signed distance function is proposed as an alternate solution to the complicated moving meshes techniques. A Galerkin/Least-Squares finite element solver for the Navier{u2014}Stokes model is developed and coupled to the new signed distance function based technique. The solver is validated by comparing the results with previously published numerical and experimental data
