Abstract

Present investigation was implemented during four successive years of the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. 5 indeterminate inbred lines which coded symbol P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5 used as parents in present investigation beginning with selfing pollination for two generation (summer and autumn season of 2016) to confirm the purity of each 5 parents’ lines, then in summer season of 2017 crossing was made in all possible combinations (Full diallel) to produce 10 hybrids and 10 reciprocals, in Sabahya horticulture research station experimental green houses. All genotypes (Five parents, 10 hybrids and 10 reciprocals) sowing direct by seeds in green houses of faculty of agriculture experimental farm in three sowing dates (med of February, March and April respectively) for two successive years (2018 and 2019) in randomized complete block design with three replicates, analysis of variance, coefficient of variation, heritability in broad and narrow sense, heterosis %, combining ability, stability analysis, coefficient of correlation (r) and path coefficient analysis, were estimated, in vegetative, flowering and fruiting measurements, yield and its components and fruit characteristics.
Most important observations were summarized as follows:
1- Interaction between years × genotypes differences were high significant and significant in all traits except plant length, total nods / plant, average fruit length and dray matter. Interaction between sowing dates × genotypes differences were high significant in all traits except fruit diameter, flesh thickness and dray matter. Regarding interaction between years × sowing dates × genotypes differences were high significant and significant in all traits except plant height, total nods / plant and fruit diameter.
2- Hybrid P1×P2 followed by P1×P5 and their reciprocals were the tallest genotypes. Same trend was observed for trait total nods number / plant.
3- Hybrid which scored the highest early yield value was P1×P5and its reciprocal.
4- Biggest total yield / plant(kg) and total yield / plant as number of fruits were achieved by hybrid P2×P4 followed by P1×P5 and its reciprocals, but hybrid P2×P4 followed by P3×P4 recorded highest total yield / plant as number of fruits.
5- HybridP2×P5 followed by P2×P3 and their reciprocals have highest average fruit weight. Regarding the fruit length (cm) it was noticeable that, hybrid P1×P3 followed by P1×P2recorded the highest values.
6- Heterosis values in vegetative measurements and early yield were positive and high significant in most crosses. Potence ratio estimates for vegetative measurements were positive and bigger than one >1.
7- Heterosis values for flowering and fruiting measurements were negative and significant or high significant in most crosses, potence ratio estimates were negative and smaller than one <1.
8- Heterosis values for yield component traits were positive and high significant in all crosses over med parents and better parent. Concerning sex ratio % trait, heterosis values were positive when computed over med parents and negative when computed over better parent, but not significant in most crosses. Potence ratio estimates for yield components traits were positive and grated than one (>1). Potence ratio estimates for sex ratio trait were positive and smaller than one <1.
