Abstract

Decline curve analysis method is one of the production data analysis methods. It is the simplest, least time consuming and least data requirement method. So, it is highly recommended for production data analysis of tight and unconventional reservoirs. The production behavior of these reservoirs is characterized by a long-term transient flow which is followed by boundary-dominated flow. So, the main target of this study is to develop a new dual model which is a composite of two different decline curve analysis models, one can fit transient flow and the other can fit boundary-dominated flow. A special case was derived from the new dual model to simply simulate flow-regimes sequence of just transient linear or bilinear flow followed by boundary-dominated flow. The study also presents a production data analysis software application to facilitate the use of these new models and some of past developed models. A sensitivity analysis was also conducted to show the effect of different factors on well productivity and project profitability. It is a good guide to design multi-fractured horizontal wells optimally.
