Abstract This study included 96 patients with hepatitis C-related cirrhosis from endoscopy unit at Mansoura specialized medical hospital and upper gastrointestinal bleeding emergency unit at Mansoura university hospital in the period from March to July 2019 who underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy to detect the presence of gastroesophageal varices , their grade, red color signs , portal hypertensive gastropathy and therapeutic intervention. Demographic data were collected together with thorough history taking and clinical examination. Patients underwent ultrasonographic examination and laboratory investigations with detection of serum Copeptin level using ELISA kits. Copeptin level was compared between patients without gastroesophageal varices, patients with non-bleeding gastroesophageal varices and patients with variceal bleeding. It was also compared between patients with compensated cirrhosis and patients with decompensated cirrhosis. |
