Abstract In Egypt, the construction sector has a large share in the national economy, yet, a significant shortage in achieving the sustainability of housing occurs. The technologies of using local building materials with innovative building technologies is consider as an important aspect, as it has a big influence on the cost and quality of the built environment which in turn affect the pillars of sustainability. The research investigates the potentials of EL-Arish city the study region by understanding the context and the historical developments of its residential buildings. In order to find out and highlight the building materials and its technologies in each type. Furthermore, analyzing successful case studies according to sustainability. And also, studying ELArish from the social, security, and climatic dimensions. In order to evaluate building materials and technologies to suggest a sufficient recommendation for EL-Arish.
