Abstract

The study aims at analyzing the concept of adopting cloud computing with
its various types, its various services, and the strategic intangible benefits
resulting from investing in it. The study focused on the following question:
How is the investment in new technology in general and cloud computing
specifically can be justified by top-management?
The strange thing, which drew the researcher’s attention is that, investment
in new technology is applied without knowing and measuring its future
intangible strategic benefits. The results showed that, there are technological,
organizational, environmental and individual factors that exert on the top
management when thinking about investing in new technology, and
therefore top-management is biased towards the investment decision.
When it comes to implementation of the new technology, the research
proposed a model with clear steps to be followed by the managers to attain
the utmost of the tangible and intangible benefits of the investment.
After implementing new technology, the research suggested a model to
evaluate the final effect of adopting new technology/ cloud computing, on
the organization’s overall performance. Also, to determine whether the steps
of adoption is done correctly and effectively or needs some adjustments?
The research proposed a model to justify investment in new technology
mainly, to assure top-management to encourage the adoption of new
technology, without deferring the decision because of the fear of the future
return.
