Abstract

Agricultural chemicals, insecticides, and urban activities pollute the aquatic
environment on a regular basis. Aquatic pollution has an impact on the
health and survival of organisms like fish, and eventually reaches the food
chain, threatening biodiversity and ecological equilibrium in nature. The
goal of this research was to look into the many adverse effects that
Oreochromis niloticus experienced after being exposed to Imidacloprid
insecticide, as well as the protective ability of ascorbic acid in water against
Imidacloprid toxicity.
Materials used in the work:
1- A commercial formulation of imidacloprid (Imid) prepared in two
concentrations (8.75 & 17.5 ppm) administered in water as a simulation of
pollution in the environment.
2- Ascorbic acid (Asc), 50 ppm, administered in water as a protective
agent.
The present study was carried out using Oreochromis niloticus juveniles
weighting 30.4±9.3 g, (n= 60)
