Abstract
Summary
This Prospective observational study aimed to Assessment of Sexual and Reproductive Function in Males Post Covid-19 Convalescence in Beni-Suef Governorate.
Overall, 100 men were allocated into:
• Post covid-19 convalescence patients within 3 months from onset of covid infection (n=40).
• Post covid-19 convalescence patients within 6 months from onset of covid infection (n=40).
• Normal control with no previous covid-19 infection (n=20).
Inclusion criteria of the patient’s group;
Married sexually active males (20 – 50) years old after convalescence from coronavirus.
Exclusion criteria were;
1. Medical diseases e.g (DM, HTN).
2. Medications affecting sexual function.
3.Organic disorders affecting sexual and reproductive function before the pandemic eg varicocele and organic ED.
4. Psychiatric disorder affecting sexual function before the pandemic.
Inclusion criteria of the controls;
Married sexually active males (20 – 50) years old after convalescence from coronavirus with no previous covid-19 infection.
They were subjected to:
1. History Taking (Personal, Sexual and Medical history).
2.-Hospital depression and anxiety scale.
3. General and Local examination.
4. Assessment of male sexual function by International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5).
5. Semen Analysis.
6.Total testosterone level (morning level)
The results were as follows:
1. significant decrease in total motility in Post covid-19 patients within 3 months group when compaired with Control group .however,There is significant increase in total motility in Post covid-19 patients within 6 months group when compaired with Post covid-19 patients within 3 months group , which suggest that this impairment in sexual function may occurs for transient duration .
2. Regarding IIEF-5 Significant decrease in Post covid-19 patients within 3 months group when compared with Control group and significant increase in IIEF-5 in Post covid-19 patients within 6 months group when compared with Post covid-19 patients within 3 months group , which suggest that this impairment in sexual function may occur for transient duration .
3. Regarding HADS there was statistically significant increase in Post covid-19 patients within 3 months group when compared with Post covid-19 patients within 6 months group.
4. Regarding total testosterone there was statistically significant decrease in Post covid-19 patients within 3 months group when compared with control group and increase Post covid-19 patients within 6 months group when compaired withPost covid-19 patients within 3 months group .
Recommendations
Evaluation of Sexual and Reproductive Function in Males Post Covid-19 patients for longer duration.
