Abstract

Postpartum women have access to a variety of contraceptive techniques, including hormonal and non-hormonal barriers. The IUCD is the most used form of birth control in Egypt (30 percent ). Inserting an IUCD right away after giving birth can offer instant contraception and stop more unplanned pregnancies. IUD postpartum implantation side effects are reduced by IUCD anchoring.
This study was at the department of gynecology and obstetrics, Maternity Hospital, Ain Shams university, Cairo, Egypt and was completed at gynecology and obstetrics department, Samalout Elnamozagy Hospital, Minya, Egypt; due to the precautionary measures for the emerging Corona virus in terms of complete closure of Ain Shams university hospital, as well as, the travel ban between governorates, from May 2020 to March 2021, to compare the rates of expulsion and complications between anchoring of Copper T380 and the traditional method of insertion immediately after placental delivery during cs at 6 to 8 weeks follow up visits.
Follow up: The participants were scheduled for follow-up at 6 to 8 weeks. All cases subjected to history taking about palpation of threads of IUCD or any unusual symptoms, routine abdominal and pelvic examinations and ultrasound examination to determine the location of (IUCD), up to 3cm to the serous end of the fundus.
There was no statistically significant difference between groups according to demographic data.
The median duration of follow -up for women in the2 groups was 50 days.
There was a statistically significant lower expulsion rate in group I compared to group II.
There were no cases of pregnancy among the two studied groups. That say 0% pregnancy rate for both.
