Abstract This study starts with an introduction focusing on the significance of the vocational heritage of the ancient Egyptians in our modern days. The study consists of five chapters as follows: Chapter one studies the potters, focusing on the inherited raw materials, manufacturing techniques, potters workshops, and production centers, in addition to the role of women in pottery making. Chapter two is about the spinners and weavers, it discusses the use of linen as raw material, manufacturing techniques, tools, workshops, production centers of weavers, in addition to the role of women in spinning and weaving on looms. Chapter three explains bakers, in addition to the same elements of each craft; this chapter expresses some inherited traditions related to bread and some kinds of bread which are still baked with the same ingredients in modern Egypt. Chapter four is about carpenters, in addition to the same elements of each craft; this chapter shows some of the inherited body postures of carpenters while performing their work. Chapter five represents the metalworkers with the same criteria of the other chapters, discussing the inherited raw materials, tools, and production techniques. At the end of each chapter, the researcher describes some scenes from different periods about each craft from private tombs. The study ends with a conclusion, and the bibliography. |
