Abstract

MAFLD is one of the leading causes of liver disease and cirrhosis, It is associated with extrahepatic diseases that include cardiovascular disease (CVD). There is association between MAFLD with CVD that is related to the common metabolic risk factors as obesity, diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension and dyslipidemia. CVD has been shown to be the most common cause of death in patients with MAFLD.
This study was conducted on 200 patients. They were recruited from The Cardiology Department, Beni-Suef University Hospitals in the duration from February 2021 to July 2021.
The aim of the study was to assess the associated MAFLD in hypertensive patients.
The results of the study showed that:
1- The mean age of studied population was (52.1±12.3) years,
2- Prevalence of MAFLD in hypertension population was (68.5%).
3- The obese subgroup accounted for (73%) followed by the T2DM (25.5%) while the lean was (1.5%).
4- Waist circumference and body mass index were higher in MAFLD patients more than non MAFLD group.
5- There was statistically significant association between (TGs and HOMA IR) levels and MAFLD.
6- NFS was significantly higher in T2DM MAFLD group than non-diabetics MAFLD in the hypertension population.
7- Levels of CAP, TE, LSM and NFS are higher in MAFLD group more than non MAFLD group.
8- As regarding cardiological parameters in studied populations there was significant association between dilated left ventricle and MAFLD patients.
